How do you know that dragons and stuff really just arnt pterodactyls? Think about it, who told you it was a pterodactyl? And were you alive “millions” of years ago?

So there is just as much evidence of pterodactyls being the pagan dragons of old then there are of them just being a type of dinosaur.

right?
how do you know, did you actually see a live pterodactyl?

Nope, all we have are bones. ^_^
so a some scientist says that “this fossil will be part of the pterodactyl family”. And you believe it when there were stories of flying beasts even before he said it?

^_^

    Wow, you nailed it.

  2. amemahoney says:

    This question is retarded.

I don’t say that often, but man, this is just about one of the dumbest things I have read today. At least since your last question.

  3. Pedro R says:

    I don’t.

    Pagan=nature

  4. THE MIGHTY RA says:

Pterodactyls were unable to breathe fire

  5. Cyrberus says:

is this somehow leading to us all believing in god(s) again?

  6. sexypanda2 says:

100 million years or so between us.

  7. ichibanarky says:

Scientists named it – what it was called before that, we have no idea

But it’s pretty much been proven that they didn’t live during medieval times, nor did they spit fire

  8. Mr.Samsa says:

No human was alive “millions” of years ago. Certainly not 65 million years ago, when pterodactyls became extinct.

There is no evidence that pterodactyls are “the pagan dragons of old.” However, there is some evidence that ancient humans found dinosour fossils and believed that they must have come from “dragons.” They just didn’t know what a dinosaur was back then.

  9. Go Ahead and Delete Me says:

umm what evidence would that be?

  10. Jonny B Good says:

That’s certainly possible. Most mythical creatures are usually based in some reality, some mythical sea monsters of old are now thought to have been giant squid.

  11. grandfather raven says:

i really like how you equate “atheism” with “disbelief in dragons”

    seriously. it’s quite telling

  12. Manuel says:

So St. George is celebrated in England for having killed a pterodactyl?

  13. Chris says:

Okay, so let’s say they were, hypothetically.

That doesn’t change a thing. The laws of Physics, Evolution and Chemistry still apply. =

But, in truth, they aren’t. How do I know? They couldn’t breath fire. Furthermore, their skeletons differ far from ‘dragons’.

  14. Lizard of Ahaz Recreated says:

They died out around 65,000,000 years ago so I would have to say that if they found the fossilized remains of one it could be true . If not it was just someones imagination .

  15. Frank V says:

-because pterodactyls don’t look anything like dragons where depicted neither on the western nor eastern societies
-archaeologists told me they were pterodactyls
-pterodactyls have been dated to actually be millions of years old
-there is no historical record of neither pterodactyls or dragons
-neither does your beloved bible mention pterodactyls or creatures like them.

and to finish it off ill ask a question: where you alive “thousands” of years ago to see a “pterodragon” yourself? awesome logic you’re using here, congrats, you failed with epic proportions.

  16. Tom B says:

I never said they weren’t dragons. For all I know, they breathed fire. We can’t tell that from a bone structure.
But you know what? God didn’t do it either way. :)

  17. JaxA says:

Omigosh! I hadn’t realised that you couldn’t believe in god and pteradactyls at the same time.
    OK, you got me.
I’m going with god and the dragons.
    f%%% science!

  18. Jeancommunicates says:

You never heard of the “wyvem” forked tailed fire breathing dragons in England in the 1600’s? There are many stories about them and eye witness accounts.

  19. 1up - SaffaBrit says:

There are different types of dragons.
Pterodactyls would correspond with wyverns, actually.

If you can disprove radio-carbon dating… Good luck.

  20. Angel says:

They existed from the late Triassic to the end of the Cretaceous Period (220 to 65.5 million years ago). I guess that you could call them “dragons” if you wanted too, but why would you? Technically, they weren’t dinosaurs, since they were not “terrestrial reptiles with an upright stance”. Yes, they were alive many millions of years ago. Earth is roughly 4.5 billion years old. I believe in God too, but denying proven scientific fact is pointless, and it makes anyone that believes in God look bad.

  21. Gen. Stiggo [Atheati-in-Chief] says:

You may be right. Dinosaur bones led to people believing in mythical creatures, just as a lack of understanding of the big bang, abiogenesis, physics, meteorology and evolution (among other things) led people to believe in gods

  22. Empress Kat says:

It is more widely accepted that ancient people found the bones of pterodactyls or other dinosaurs, not knowing what they were, they made up stories surrounding these giant bones.

If “dragons” were around during the same time as man, it would stand to reason that the artistic renderings would look the same. European dragons tend to look more like typical dinosaurs whereas the oriental dragons tend to be more snake-like.

  23. franhu says:

There is no conclusive evidence that anything existed 65 hundred years ago, let alone 65 million years ago – it is all a big lie invented by Satan to belittle the Creator of everything 6000 years ago.
